Projects

Overview

“The best place to look for a new mine is beside an old one.” – Old prospector’s adage.

Duncastle is focused on two projects in BC which, taken together, total over 205 square kilometers and include more than a dozen past producing mines and workings, as well as many high-grade gold, silver and polymetallic showings. At both projects Duncastle has combined smaller properties that have been mined or explored individually and are underexplored in a modern sense to create larger land positions. This allows for the compilation of a larger database and geologic model to explore beyond the known showings in a systematic process applying modern exploration tools and programs.

The projects are complementary in nature, with the Yankee-Dundee Mine offering short-term production potential and Porphyry Creek offering a large claim block capable of hosting a porphyry gold-copper-silver target.

The projects are complementary in nature, with the Porphyry Creek project offering large targets such as the Sultana copper porphyry discovery, and the Yankee-Dundee Mine offering short-term production potential (and therefore potential short-term cash flow).

Porphyry Creek

In Northwest BC, the company has the large (130 square kilometer) Porphyry Creek property in a well-known porphyry district, 20km northwest of Smithers in the prolific Rocher Deboule mining camp. Duncastle’s work on the property paid off with the announcement of a new copper-molybdenum porphyry discovery in December 2010 at the Sultana mine area on the southeast portion of the claim block. Work for 2011 will focus on expanding this discovery with a +2,400 meter program targeting an 800 meter by 1,200 meter area south and west of the 2010 drill pads. Work is also planned for five other priority targets, including additional porphyry targets and an IOCG/skarn target, where the three components of the 2010 airborne geophysical survey show coincident geophysical anomalies occurring in areas with historic and current geological results. Numerous less developed targets are also being studied.

Yankee-Dundee

In Southeast BC, the company holds claims covered much of the historic Ymir camp including the past-producing gold-silver-lead-zinc Yankee-Dundee mine and adjacent mineral claims. As the largest mine in the Ymir Camp, which in turn was the largest silver camp in the British Commonwealth in the 1930s, the Yankee-Dundee has existing workings and excellent access and infrastructure. Duncastle acquired the 26 core crown grants in 2006 and has added additional claims such that the property now covers over 74 square kilometers. Duncastle inspected the 1.4 kilometer Wildhorse adit in 2006 and by 2009 had drilled over 7,700 meters in 48 holes from surface, identifying a western extension of the vein structure along strike from the mined portion. This extension is above an existing tunnel which may provide mining access. The next phases of work include planned underground mapping and drilling in the area under the mined portion of the vein where sampling in 1961 returned 8.68g/t gold, 74.4g/t silver, 2.4% lead and 4.5% zinc over a 61 meter height and a 1.31 meter width (historic data not independently confirmed by the company, not NI 43-101-compliant, and not to be relied upon). The near term goals include further exploration drilling, both underground and from surface, a bulk sample, and scoping of possible mining operations.

BC Focus

To date, Duncastle has focused on significant past-producing mines and their adjacent claims in British Columbia, Canada. BC offers excellent mineral potential, hosting numerous world-class mines and developing prospects. The financing incentives using flow-through shares add to the advantages of operating within a stable political environment and where resource databases and regulations are well documented. Technical expertise and data for resource development including Geoscience BC and a world-leading government database for mine and geologic data are also great assets in BC.

New Projects

Notwithstanding the advantages of the BC focus, Duncastle Gold Corp. evaluates new projects on an opportunistic basis and may acquire new projects where shareholder value is clearly enhanced.
